Peptide Therapy Consultation: What to Discuss With a Provider

Prepare for a peptide-therapy consultation with questions about your goals, medical history, medication source, monitoring, and next steps.

Published July 14, 2026. This guide is general education and is not a substitute for a personal medical evaluation, diagnosis, or treatment plan.

Begin with fit, not a promise

A consultation should begin with your goals, health history, medications, supplements, and whether a proposed option is medically appropriate. General wellness claims are not a substitute for an individualized evaluation.

Ask what information, examinations, or labs are needed before a decision is made and how the practice will revisit the plan if your needs or safety considerations change.

Ask directly about the medication

If a medication discussed is compounded, ask why it is being considered, who prepares it, what the known risks are, and what information you should review before starting. Compounded drugs are not reviewed by the FDA for safety, effectiveness, or quality before marketing.

Do not buy prescription medication from unverified sources. Talk with a licensed clinician or pharmacist about questions related to a prescription.

Questions to bring

A clear discussion should cover both logistics and safety.

  • What is the clinical goal of this proposed option?
  • What alternatives, risks, interactions, or reasons not to use it should I understand?
  • What monitoring, labs, and follow-up are part of this plan?
  • Who should I contact if I experience a side effect or have a medication question?
